Technician Class One Day School
From time to time WARS sponsors a one day school to help potential licensees prepare to take the license test. For more information, please fill out our
contact form.
Below are some important things to keep in mind about the one day class and the license test before registering and attending the school.
- Attendance at the class does not guarantee an individual will pass the license exam and earn an amateur radio license
- Students must study an exam prep book and take practice tests before attending the class!
- In order to pass the test, you will need to spend approximately 20-30 hours studying the material before class/test day
- Mark specific questions you don't understand and we will discuss them in class
- The one day class is meant to answer questions and highlight important material; it will be impossible to cover all aspects of the material required to pass the exam in the 8 hour class
- Start taking practice tests online as soon as possible; the more practice tests you take, the better your chances of passing the test!
- Persons applying for their first license must already have an FCC Registration Number (FRN); if you do not have an FRN, please visit the link below to obtain an FRN before the test session
Here is how the test works:
- The wording of questions can not be changed; every question and answer must be stated exactly as presented in the question pool
- The order of answers can change; if the answer was in place (B) in the question pool, then it could be moved to A, C or D on the test.
- There will be 35 questions on the test; you must answer 26 questions correctly to pass
- You will only receive 1 question from each sub element group.
Example:
In the T1A Group, there are 16 possible questions. You will receive only 1 question from this group.
In the T1B Group, there are 15 possible questions. You will receive only 1 question from this group.
In the T1C Group, there are 11 possible questions. You will receive only 1 question from this group.
In the T2A Group, there are 15 possible questions. You will receive only 1 question from this group.
There are 35 possible groups of questions, you will receive only 1 question from each group.
- Don't get bogged down on memorizing frequencies; just remember most frequencies start and end on an even boundary, and as a Technician, you will generally have the most restrictive range available
- Start taking practice tests online as soon as possible; the more practice tests you take, the better your chances of passing the test!
